This Hawfinch was seen at 17:55 today. It has some strange feather near the tail (molting tail feather??). This feather is certainly not present in Herman's photos from yesterday so I wonder if it is a third bird.
In terms of behavior it seemed quite shy. Perching only briefly in a tall tree. It seemed to join a flock of Chinese Grosbeaks but I lost sight of it at that point. There are quite a few finches around here. I had about 12 Chinese Grosbeaks and I heard someone mention a Greenfinch earlier in the week. So perhaps this would indicate that these birds are congregating here naturally.
Good observation. This what makes you a true birder. And though your photos are just passable, they help
along with your points. You're the master and your camera just your good assistant. That is proper relationship.
