Subject: Cuckoo ID--Possible Common Cuckoo? [Print This Page]

Saw this bird today at Yin Kong (near Long Valley). Initially thought it looked a different than an Indian Cuckoo--greyer than I expect for Indian Cuckoo and not brown enough on the back. Now because of the light and indistinct barring on the breast I am wondering if it is an Oriental Cuckoo or Common Cuckoo.

It sat in an open perch for several minutes. Pity I was so far a way from it. No calls heard.

Any thoughts?

Photo not clear, most likely Oriental (Horsfield's) Cuckoo. The most recent bird list uses the name "Oriental Cuckoo".
