I like to have several cameras with me on a digiscoping safari so I had Panasonic G1, Sony Nex 5, Nikon P6000,P7000,P300,S9100 and Canon SD400IS. Also, while in St.Augustine, we met up with an Internet buddy and I bought his Nikon 8400 to replace mine which I had broken the week before.
With the bright light out on the beaches of Florida it's useful to have an Electronic Viewfinder camera like the Panasonic Lumix G1. I used to use the Nikon 8400 and Olympus 7070wz for this purpose. You can use a Hoodman for overcome the glare but the elastic bands keep breaking on me at the most inconvenient time.
The eyepiece that I use most for digiscoping is the Kowa 25x LER ( long eye relief ) eyepiece which is the best all around digiscoping eyepiece out there. I've managed to get unvignetted views at some part of the camera lens zoom with all the cameras I've tried, including the Nikon S9100 which has a 25 - 450 mm lens.
My second most favorite eyepiece is the VA3 - Video Adapter , which has a massive 60 mm of ER and 14x power. Great for long zoom lenses, short kit zooms on the G1 and Nex 5, and video cameras ( which it was designed for ). Worked a treat for the Alligator Farms in Orlando and St. Augustine at distance of 4 - 30 meters.
These photos were taken with various cameras.
