小白鷺頸部和背部較長又鬆鬆的羽毛是繁殖羽 (飾羽), 在繁殖期才會長出來吸引異性的，這代表這隻小白鷺已成年，至於是否老，很難從外型知道。
相信只是看似一位長滿長鬍子的老伯伯, 所以裝塵才會用這個標題。

我不知道小白鷺的繁殖羽可以這麼豐厚，通常只是見到一兩條 =]
