This cuckoo complex is very difficult for ID, in currently available knowledge.
Oriental Cuckoo in this case is the best guess, against Common Cuckoo.
But it can not (or not possible to) rule out Himalayan Cuckoo.

This pictures does show the yellow irides clearly which rules out Lesser Cuckoo but still seems impossible to separate between Oriental, Common, and Himalayan Cuckoo. Author: lpaul Time: 22/09/2011 15:51
The combination of white and brown barring on the wing coverts, greyish tones to the face, black and white underside to the tail and especially the rather clear yellow irides suggest that this is almost certainly a heptic adult.
Given that almost nothing is published on the separation of hepatic adult Oriental, Himalayan and Common Cuckoos I doubt this bird can be identified based on current knowledge. Author: hkinni Time: 29/09/2011 15:11
