Dear members,

A total of eight Black-faced Spoonbills were seen from Mai Po boardwalk this morning. More wintering Black-faced Spoonbill will return to Deep Bay area soon. Some birds are fitted with colour rings on their legs and sightings of these colour-ringed BFS are very important for understanding their movement and home range. If you can see any of these ringed BFS, please report the bird with information of the position ('above' or 'below' the ankle, left or right leg) and colour (Blue, Green, Red, Yellow, White, etc) of the ring(s).

You could post the information here, or later you can register in our new webpage database (and this webpage is still under testing and we hope to launch it in the coming weeks) and enter your sighting into it:

如果參考台南的網頁（http://bfsn.bfsa.org.tw/index.php），
似乎在2010環誌到K00後，韓國的環誌編號就開始用"E"字頭了。
2010年環誌到E19，2011年就由E20環誌到E60。

Herman見到的都是2011年環誌，甚至可能是2011年出世的幼鳥。

E29 於2011-06-05 Gaksiam, Korea 繫放
E34 於2011-07-01 Namdongji, Korea 繫放
E45 於2011-07-04 Suhaam, Korea 繫放

Hi John,

Your bird (the one with one metal ring) is an interesting one. The last two digits '99' fit to a bird ringed at Far East area, Russia in July 2007, which should also have two colour rings (Red and Yellow) on right legs. It looks very likely to me that the colour rings have fallen off already.

Assuming that is the birds from Russia, this individual is now in 4 year and 4 month old.

I agree with Sze that the bird is A39. It has been reported that the white band has turned yellow in 2009.

This is the 4th consecutive year for this bird to come to Mai Po for wintering since it being injured from fish hook, recovered and released in March 2008.

Very happy to see it still in good health!

紅色的編號環代表這隻琵鷺是在韓國環誌的。
右腳帶有紅色編號環，而左腳上的顏色環組合為紅－白－黃（由上而下）的琵鷺只得E34及K34，
但因為K34已很久沒有觀察記錄，而E34近月有數筆在米埔或濕地公園的觀察記錄，
故此這隻是E34的機會較高。
