Ngau Tau Kok 2011.12.27 10:15 a.m.

It was standing there for nearly 30 minutes, I could not wait to see its tail when flying.

Is it a Common Buzzard ? or a Black Kite ?

An Eastern Buzzard

Thanks so much.

I still got some questions to ask.

I noticed in some posts others suggested Common Buzzard (Buteo buteo) has no record in Hong Kong.

Should all related records be Eastern Buzzard ?

I am a bit confused by the intertwined naming of them.

Eastern Buzzard was recently split from Common Buzzard. The split was adopted for the HK list when the list changed to using IOC last year. All records in HK relate to Eastern Buzzard (including those previously listed as Common Buzzard) - it isn't a case of the previous ID being wrong, just that the taxonomic name has changed.
