No, it's Spotted Redshank. One - probably the same bird - was there today (Dec 30).

1 also saw three Spotted Redshank at LV on 7 November & 2 on 5 December.

Offhand, I can't recall seeing this species at LV before - and I'm going back to the 1990s here - so these sightings are quite unusual.

(A quick check of past Bird Reports shows there was one at LV on Oct 1, 1999 - and there have been 1-2 more recent records at San Tin & Kam Tin. However, it is still rare away from Deep Bay).

Thanks again David. Glad to witness this record in Long Valley.

Hope that Long Valley will become a more favourable habitat for birds.

Common Redshank is even rarer away from Deep Bay than Spotted. It is very unusual to see Common on fish ponds close to Mai Po, whereas Spotted can fairly often be seen around the ponds.

For your information, both Common and Spotted Redshank were recorded in Long Valley before.

There was a small flock (~6 birds) of Spotted Redshanks present since October at LV. I saw them almost everytime I went there in October and November.
