Sitting in my study at home I can see 4 cormorants and an Osprey in the bay below us in Sai Kung. Two cormorants swimming, two flying around. Is this an unusual record for this species? I don't recall having seen cormorants in Sai Kung in the last 2 years or so that we have lived here. Thanks. Andrew Author: handrew Time: 29/02/2012 11:05
Today 6 cormorants in the bay - 1 sporting white filoplumes and white flank patch. Author: gary Time: 29/02/2012 13:21
Great Cormorant is not rare in Sai Kung - they might forage in Sai Kung at day time but return to NWNT for roosting.
But you see it roosting at night, that could be unusal cormorant species, e.g. Japanese Cormorant. Author: handrew Time: 29/02/2012 15:57
Thanks. Probably I haven't seen them in the past because I was at work in the day. Now I'm retired maybe I just see more.
