Yesterday, I visit Tai Po Kau, uphill from carpark, when passed the orchard, I noted people vacated, trees were cut, weeds were cleared, looked ecology has been destroyed and new development will happen soon. Any one could let us have some update? Author: HKBWS Chuan Time: 9/02/2012 15:32
A new land owner required the tenants to move out and has plans to use the grounds for an unknown purpose. As far as I am aware, there are no official building plans for the site. I have not seen the area recently but heard that it has been significantly degraded, with trees and vegetation removed. It would be useful if passers-by could keep monitoring the area. It was unique in TPK in being an open area with extensive forest edge and attracted (or allowed opportunities to see) different birds. Plants in the gardens were also very attractive to butterflies and moths. Very disappointing to have such damage occur.
