A family hike from the pagoda above High Island reservoir, down to Tai Long Sai Wan, over to Tai Long Wan and finishing in Chek Keng produced the following species:
Cattle Egret - 1 Tai Long Sai Wan
Crested Serpent Eagle - 1 High Island reservoir
White-bellied Sea Eagle - 1above Chek Keng
Red-necked Phalarope - 15 flew into Tai Long Sai Wan and out again
Common Kingfisher - 1 at Tai Long Sai Wan, 1 at Chek Keng
Large Hawk Cuckoo - 2 Tai Long Wan
Hodgson's Hawk Cuckoo - 1 calling calling Chek Keng
Pale-legged leaf Warbler - 1 Tai Long Sai Wan - near bridge over big stream on northeastern side, One, Tai Long Village
Hainan Blue Flycathcer - one seen and heard singing near the High Island pagoda.

There is a flock of Red-necked phalaropes off Sai Kung pier at the moment. I saw 11 today and a photographer said he had seen 20 yesterday. Author: ckwokwing Time: 2/05/2012 08:54
