This is just the fourth record for Hong Kong (although it has not yet been accepted as a wild species by the Records Committee).
Do you have any more pix? They will be important to assess whether this is a genuinely wild bird or an escape.
All records have occurred between 23 Dec and 21 January. Although mid-winter has been considered an unusual time for vagrant buntings to appear in Hong Kong, this record strengthens the argument that such records may be part of a natural (perhaps newly emerging) pattern of vagrancy.
Another photographer also captured this bird today - please see the previous post, plus the ID please thread on HKWildlife.net.
Cheers
