I am a new bird watcher, so maybe my question is very stupid to you. The bird in the photo is not same as other white wagtail I saw before. But I cannot find out other possibilities, not even know where to search for. Is it a White Wagtail? Thanks you for your reply. It was taken on 2013-01-26 outside MP
Should be White Wagtail. Different subspecies may have different morphology. Author: ajohn Time: 3/03/2013 14:19
Yes, a White Wagtail. This is the subspecies leucopsis, which is the commonest subspecies in Hong Kong. The other common subspecies, ocularis, differs by having a stripe through the eye and a paler grey back.
As well as subspecies differences, the appearance can vary according to time of year and sex of the bird. This is probably a first winter female - if you have previously seen breeding plumage leucopsis, especially males, they may look different (e.g. blacker back, more white in wing, more extensive bib).
