In the photos, the one with the shorter bill, is it a Black-tailed Godwit with broken bill or other species.
With the red colour, I think it maybe a Red Knot, but the neck is longer and the size is bigger than a Red Knot.
I also think about whether it is a Ruff which the size match but the bill is not black. (I never see a Ruff before but in the book it looks different from the photos)
The reddest bird, on the right, is an Asian Dowitcher - note the very dark grey (if not in fact, blackish) rather tubular bill, deeper at the base.
Yes the bird with the broken bill is a Black-t Godwit. Author: kkchang168 Time: 3/05/2013 00:47

I have heard other reports about this bird at Mai Po, but haven't seen it myself. I did see one with a partly broken bill earlier in the season and I wonder if that was the same bird, with the break now complete. Poor bird, I suspect it is finding it difficult to get food. I took a picture of a poor Grey-headed Lapwing who has a big tumor on its right face in LV on Apr 27. I think it is really disgusting so I decide not to show it. Poor bird.
