Subject: [Hong Kong] Hainan Blue Flycatcher? [Print This Page]

Dear all,

Sorry to bother you again. Below is a bird taken in Tai Mo Shan today (2013-06-08) in the afternoon.

At the same time I took the photo, I took the following photo too in which I believe is a Juvenile Hainan Blue Flycatcher.

Besides, I saw a blue bird in the morning at the same place, I think it is a male Hainan Blue Flycatcher (I do not have a clear picture of it as it was very dark in the morning). So initially I think that it is a female Hainan Blue Flycatcher, but the tail of it is too short (nearly cannot be seen in the second photo). I still think that it is a female Hainan Blue Flycatcher (maybe with broken tail) or is it other species? Appreciate your comment. Thanks.

the second set is definitely a baby hainan blue flycatcher .. he looks very similar to the one that has been around TPK the last month and a bit ..

Yeah, female Hainan Blue minus tail.

I assume these incidents occur due to encounters with raptors or cats mostly.
