From my home in Clearwater Bay this afternoon I watched 4 Blue-tailed bee-eaters. At 16.15 they are still present. I managed 1 distant record shot by hand-holding a small point + shoot camera to my spotting scope.
This is the first time I have seen this species here.
A fantastic garden tick Andrew - definitely one I dream about! Author: handrew Time: 7/04/2007 20:32
Not quite in the garden but seen from! And I was very pleased. All 4 were still present just before dark. Most of the records logged in the Avifauna seem to be in the NW but there are a few at the Chinese University which is not far away as the bee-eater flies. I was out with my wife looking at houses this afternoon (what a depressing job that is) and we found a Blue whistling thrush so tame it was going into the garage. Sad to relate it was the only good thing about the house. Author: handrew Time: 8/04/2007 09:34
I have added a better shot - still distant but better. The birds are still present at 9.30am 8th April, viewable from the lower part of Pik Sha Road.
