I have attended the "Praise Dance" activity held on 16 Nov 2013. At the opening ceremony, a group of 40+ birds suddenly flied over our heads like a parade. Could any one help ID the birds for me? Sorry that the photos are of the highest resolution that I can get.
The group look like Great Cormorants, the single bird is a Spotted Dove. Author: sdavid Time: 22/11/2013 14:22
I think these Cormorants spend the day on the buoys in the Kwun Tong Typhoon Shelter close to Kai Tak. I am curious as to where they roost - Mai Po or Tai Tam? Either way, it's a reasonable daily commute! Author: ajohn Time: 22/11/2013 14:26
I have previously seen large groups of cormorants flying through Victoria in the evening, heading westwards. I think they are part of the Deep Bay roosting flock. We know that cormorants from Deep Bay also fly over the NT to Starling Inlet, so they are willing to cover some fairly considerable distances. Author: mchristine Time: 22/11/2013 14:36
Thank you all for your advices. For your information, the Praise Dance was held in Western Kowloon. It was the park intended to be built as the cutural centre which was still under construction. Author: mchristine Time: 23/11/2013 14:45 Subject: Snapshots of flying pattern
