Last Friday, November 22nd the Town Planning Board approved the residential development at Fung Lok Wai.
During the meeting it was clear that there were unresolved issues regarding the funding and management of the Wetland Nature Reserve. The approval conditions required the developer to finalize the Ecological Impact Assessment, Drainage Impact Assessment, Visual Impact Assessment reports and Landscape Master Plan. In addition, the Habitat Creation and Management Plan for the Wetland Nature Reserve will still need to be created.
Even with all these outstanding issues, the Town Planning Board approved this application given the support by the Environmental Protection Department and the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department.
