Thank for posting these photos cthomas

These illegal border crossers were again causing disturbance to wildlife including birds in the Frontier Closed Area today around 0900-1000 am.  These actions were IN PLAIN VIEW of the Tsim Bei Tsui Marine Police post.

In addition there was a boat containing four men hiding in the mangroves on the north side of the Boardwalk bay at the same time.

Also, yesterday evening around 1830pm there were many fishing nets and illagal border crossers inside the Frontier Closed Area IN PLAIN VIEW of the Tsim Bei Tsui Marine Police post, but no action was taken by Marine Police or AFCD.

I could see no action taken either last night or this morning.

I wonder what the Marine Police and AFCD will do to stop these activities inisde the Frontier Closed Area and the Ramar Site?

Cheers
Mike

This confrontation happened yesterday (2nd).  The hovercraft crew just waved for the fishermen to leave the area and they started pulling in their nets. Neil.

I wonder if the fishermen had any of the following:

FCA permit
Fishing licence
HKID card

I also wonder if it was legal for them to use nets inside the Ramsar site.

Anybody know the answers to these questions?

Cheers

Dear Neil,

Thank you for posting these photographs.

I am suprised the AFCD officers did not at least confiscate the large quantity of nets, but as Mike says, clarification is needed from AFCD concerning their protocol under such circumstances.

I will enquire with the AFCD Enforcement Officer and report back any findings.
