These 2 birds were circling together over Sai Kung 2 weeks ago. One I think is Buteo buteo japonicus but the other seems to have a very long tail. I was also surprised that the buzzard seems to have a very small head. I'd appreciate comments.
I think these two birds are both adult Bonelli's Eagles. Key features are long tail, small head, white body with dark streaks, dark underwing coverts, pale tail with a broad dark terminal band, dark trailing edge to the underwing.

Thanks Dave. They were over the Lions Nature Education Centre along with an immature White-bellied sea-eagle. I did consider Bonelli's but felt the wings were not broad enough. It was the small head on one bird and long tail on the other that made me wonder.
BTW I was in Dubai (working) at the weekend - Tommy Pedersen sends his regards.
