Chinese Barbet is a great record, I was hoping they will arrive sometime soon...I always find it possible for them to colonize Hong Kong since the closest population is only not far form Guangzhou. I wonder if the Red-headed Trogons can make it this far...I remember seeing them in Che Ba Ling years ago. Author: JohnC Time: 11/01/2015 16:57 Subject: Tai Po Kau Winter 2015
Started a new thread because it is not autumn any more.

Japanese Robin
Red-flanked Bluetail
Mountain Tailorbird
Goodson's Leaf Warbler
After seeing the reaction of other birders when I showed them these photos, checking 2012 records and searching for 'Japanese Robin' on this site, it seems this is a rare bird in Hong Kong, at least in recent years. I didn't know this at the time so I am even more pleased with this record.
He was found just after the biggest picnic area. I sat down to take photos of a Red-flanked Bluetail eating termites hoping to get a good shot. After about 2 minutes the Robin flew in and I was able to get a few photos before some hikers scared it off. I waited about 10 minutes for it to come back but it never showed. On the way back, 2 hours later, the Bluetail was still there.

Hi Peter 2014,
could you please Indicate the location where you've seen this bird at TPK, I would be interesting to paid a look to it tomorrow morning.
Thanks

I think it looks most like a Red-flanked Bluetail, legs are too long and overall shape seems wrong for a flycatcher. Author: Jonathmartinez Time: 28/01/2015 15:35
