Zixishan Forest Park, Chuxiong 楚雄紫溪山森林公園
I visited this forest park to look for my target - Giant Nuthatch. Unfortunately when I got there, the whole area was covered with thick mist and sometimes it was raining too. What was even worse, power supply was suspended due to damage to power cables by heavy snow. Therefore I just stayed in a Buddhist temple there overnight and did not go into the forest. BTW, I would come back in summer as the forest is a mature one and I think may yield good finds in birding.
Here are a few photos I took around the temple in the mist :
Black-headed Sibia 黑頭奇鶥
A bath party - initially the party was played by Red-billed Leiothrix 紅嘴相思鳥 only but the fun attracted both Rufous-capped Babbler 紅頭穗鶥 &
Streak-breasted Scimitar Babbler 棕頸鈎咀鶥 to join.
BTW: I think your "Rusty-capped Fulvetta" is Spectacled Fulvetta. Author: Paux Time: 2/02/2015 15:20
John, thank you for your correction. It appears the picture of Spectacled Fulvetta as shown in "A Field Guide to the Birds of China" is not very accurate.
I just checked into "Oriental Bird Images" & noted your 2 photos taken in 2005 at the same place.
