謝謝 9Wi 的評語。很多涉禽和水鳥的羽毛都是防水的。有一說法是尾脂腺的油脂,亦有說法是整理羽毛時產生的靜電。感覺上只有普通鸕鶿的羽毛防水性低。這次見到鶴鷸的[落湯雞]樣是有點詫異。哈哈,讀萬卷書不如行萬里路,看來我還要多些去濕地走走。
Thank you for 9Wi's comments. Many shorebirds and waterbirds have waterproof feathers. One saying is the preen oil from the bird's uropygial gland. Another saying is the electrostatic charge to the oiled feather through preening. I previously thought only the Common Cormorant's feathers are less waterproof and I was surprised to see this Spotted Redshank's wet look under heavy rain. May be I should go out more to the wetlands to learn more.
