I have 2 birds that need identification. The black bird was found in HKU this February in the morning. The size is roughly larger than a spotted dove, though I am not sure. Sorry that I can't rotate the image coz I took it using my mobile phone.



Another one was found tonight near my home in Tin Shui Wai. It started singing at around 8 or 9 pm and is still singing now outside my windows. Seems to be unafraid of humans. I wonder if it's an immature hwamei.

the colour of its underbody is the same shade of light brown?

I tend to agree with you that it is a hwamei, just that the blue eyering isn't obvious.....

I would guess (the first bird) it's a Koel - but difficult to ID positively, from that picture.
