Snakes usually avoid close contact with human, I see snakes often in MP and usually they will just slither away when you get too close. Most snakes can detect human simply by the vibration our foot step caused while we walk, so very often they will be gone before we know it, even if you do see one they will often just look for a place to hide. Snakes will only bite as a last resort, they much rather keep their precious venom for their prey. I am sure there's no need to report the sightings, birders should just keep a look out at where they are stepping on. Author: K_Chan Time: 6/01/2018 10:57
That is a Chinese Cobra. Chinese cobra are usually a dark colour but a "golden" form is sometimes encountered, mostly in the NW New Territories.
Snakes are really not interested in biting us and will move off as Matthew says. Just take care and be aware when in long grass. Author: garykctse Time: 6/01/2018 20:40
