In Memory of Karen Phillipps
It is with great sorrow to share with you that Karen Phillipps, the co-author and chief artist of “The Birds of Hong Kong and South China”, just passed away in London on 6th February after a long battle against cancer. We would like to express our sincere condolences to her family and our deepest gratitude to Karen for her contribution in promoting bird watching in Hong Kong. If you love bird watching, you must have seen her artwork. Below are some of the books illustrated by her.
Quote (https://birdingbeijing.com/2020/02/12/in-memory-of-karen-phillipps):
" Finally, yes finally, to come to know Karen, the illustrator and author of my very first book on birding, The Birds of HK and Southern China (Chinese version) back in 2008. Even today, the book is still, and shall be in the future, the mostly used field guide to be unloaded off the rucksack on the birding field. Karen’s authoritative renditions of the species features shall last. Birders like I will miss Karen. "
