Two different birds?
Are these two birds Dunlin or Curlew Sandpiper? But they seem to be different, i.e. not the same kind.

Both Dunlins, adult winter plumage. Note the rather plain face and short tibia; Curlew Sand should have a more pronounced hint of a supercillium and a longer tibia.
