Indian Leg Flags

I posted these photos on the EAAFP leg flag group on Facebook this morning, and someone suggested I report to Bombay Natural History Society directly, so I did.

“Thank you for your mail. This bird was ringed by me on 7th October 2019 at Point Calimere in South India. The bird was an adult with the  moult pattern  inner five primaries were full grown 6 th one was just started growing. The outer four primaries were old. The weight was 38 g. The full number is AB178989 the flag number is 6N6. The ring is of Bombay Natural History Society's which uses black flag with white engraving for South India…"

Looks like the 6N6 flag has been put up-side-down?

It seemed so to me, too, based on the Indian reply.

Anyway, most importantly, it’s identified as their flag...
