I digiscoped this plover at a distance beyond a small group of Little Ringed Plovers.  He never joined the others and seemed very pale.  Is is a juvenile Little Ringed or something else - Kentish maybe?  Neil.

Lamma Island,
Hong Kong,
China.

Neil,

Can you tell me where this bird was, and if you have seen it since?

Thanks.

Paul,
It was on the mudflats at Sok Kwu Wan.  I went back today for 3 hours but didn't see it. What do you think?
Neil.

Yeah, lpaul, what do you think?

Surely it can only be one of two species, one rare and one common, which have, as you've shown, been confused elsewhere?

But is there anything specific to suggest it's the rarer one, regardless of the location?

Also is it just me, but doesn't the bill of Kentish actually look relatively as long if not longer than that of Long-billed in many photos?

Great pic btw Neil - I love the way you photographer guys get some great angles on the birds.

Mike T.
