According to the concluding remarks by Prof. LEE Ngok, Coordinator, Public Policy Research Institute of The H K Polytechnic University. There were five categories of opinions from the Public Forum.
1) Someone pointed out that there was insufficient information to generate meaningful discussion about the "Future Land Uses for the Lok Ma Chau Loop". For example: The land owners opinions was not known.
2) NT Villagers queried why the Government was concentrating on the Lok Ma Chau Loop. Had the Government considered the area nearby the loop and other lands developments in new territories, village houses and low density development, transportation, logistic, facilities etc.
3) There were groups including conservationists made suggestions against the development in the Lok Ma Chau Loop.
Some groups made suggestions that any development to the area should prioritise on conserving the ecological corridor in around the Lok Ma Chau Loop and the internationally important Ramsar Mai Po Deep Bay Wetland located down stream. The loop is located at the middle of the Ecological corridor, any high density development would break the corridor into two or create a bottle neck channel of the birds and other wildlife.
4) There were opinions on co-development on HK & Shenzhen, suggestions to make good use of the strengths of both places. Especially, the well developed legal system in Hong Kong. The benefits of both HK citizens and the Shenzhen side, develop win win solutions for this special administrative region in the Special administrative Regions.
5) Other opinions, including interests of different sectors.
Finance, High technology, tourisms, logistics, organic farming, reintroducing of varies industries; made various suggestions about use of the special location to provide more employment for Hong Kong people.
