In fact these stints do have black legs as normal, but they are covered by mud making them appear paler. This is clearer on the bird on the right in the first photo (where you can still see some black)
This is a common problem when identifying stints, and it is always important to check other features as well rather than relying solely on the leg colour. Author: cywong Time: 21/07/2008 22:11
