Note that this is, in fact, a male Painted Snipe. This species is unusual in that the female is larger and more brightly coloured (it is the female with the dark green back and dark reddish head/neck). The male is smaller and more camoufalged, as it is the one which looks after the nest and chicks. Author: handrew Time: 11/10/2008 17:02
