Pycnonotus sinensis hainanus?
A black headed Chinese Bulbul was being seen yesterday. I think I already saw it last Saturday but I was not able to take any photo of it.

Chinese Bulbul sometimes shows dark tips to the white nape patch, as on this bird. It seems to be especially prevalent in autumn (perhaps because the birds are in fresh plumage - the dark tips wear off during the winter). You can see that the base of the feathers in this area show the typical white pattern on this bird. I seem to remember a discussion about a similar bird at Ng Tung Chai a year or two ago.
