A pair of nesting Magpies picked up steel rods from a nearly by construction site for their nest. It was reported that steel rods up to 1 feet long and weighing half a Chinese catty (300 g) were dropped by the birds, injuring two passers-by.
LCSD removed the "steel rods" (welding rods) from the nest and cordoned off the tree on which the nest is located. The Magpies are allowed to continue with breeding."

We are glad to see government office has adopted the solution recommended by HKBWS and resolve the issue. HKBWS does enjoy high publicity recently. We should be thankul to magpies as our PR ambassador. Birds speak for themselves.
