Subject: Common greenshank with white color??? [Print This Page]

It looks like common greenshank but white in color. Please help to identify.
Found at Long Valley.

No, not a Greenshank. As the name suggests, Common Greenshank has green not yellow/orange  legs. It looks like the same Wood Sand that was posted a few weeks ago.

Interesting  bird to track, if it continues to winter in HK.

I agree it should be Wood Sand.

There was a debate about the ID of this bird last year, and in the end it turned out to be a Wood Sandpiper. It remained at Long Valley for several weeks.

It will be interesting to see if the same bird returns this year
