Subject: [Others 其他] Recording the location of ‘bird flocks’ - Ng Tung Chai [Print This Page] Author: hgeorge Time: 1/09/2009 12:50 Subject: Recording the location of ‘bird flocks’ - Ng Tung Chai
Please feel free to comment and discuss.
From Nov 08 to Jul 09, 54 bird flocks were recorded and marked during the surveys.
4 were large size.
19 were median size
31 were small size.
Species composition is as follows:
28 were mixed species flock, the most dominant species in the mixed species flock was Japanese White-eye.
26 were single species flock, Chinese Bulbul and Japanese White-eye were the most accounted single bird flocks. Other single species flocks were Striated Yuhina, Grey-chinned Minivet, Chinese Bulbul, Red-whiskered Bulbul, Silver-eared Mesia and Red-billed Leiothrix, but not often counted.
In HK, we usually use "shrubland" (rather than scrubland)to describle woody vegetation without clear trunk.
One more pt, ecologically, a secondary woodland is different from a feng shui wood, in terms of species composition. So, better to separate them.
Question: whether "Plantation" includes brisbane box and paper bark tree etc. They are currently listed in separate columns.

Thanks for Captain’s comments.
Referring to the question, yes, “plantation” includes Brisbane box and paper-bark tree. I want to emphasis the tree species of the “plantation” and as the subcategories of “plantation”.
