if I buy a non-waterproof one, will it still be clear to view through a Ziploc? ... I found the waterproof ones much more expensive than the others.
Since I often do kayak-birding w/o a binocular (fearing that it may get wet), it's a pity that I can't view the birds clearly.

Please note that Ziploc is not waterproof at all.

It depends how expansive is expansive. Take Bushnell, if U can get the scope in the States. it's half of what U normally pay in HK, I am talking about a price range between US$69-210, and that in my opinion is not expansive. And those models are waterproof.

I don't want to spend tens of thousands on eqt. either, I believe if U know where to look, U'll find some good mid range eqt. that will produce the same results as the expansive ones.
