the dead warbler looks like a Zitting Cisticola to me.

Thanks, Ken, for your birding report.

A pity that I could not find the watercock, which is the bird I long to see.  I hope it's still there.

Fine day in Pui O today with a great variety of birds, although nothing highly unusual. The Hoopoe seems to be a long staying individual, spotted it on the dry grassland east of the buffalo fields (there was a truck dumping building materials on this grassland, by the way!).
Good influx of Daurian Redstarts and wagtails/pipits after the cold weather...

No! The dead bird really looks like a Lanceolated Warbler.  What a pity.

Thanks Dragonfly for the birding report.  BTW, I also noticed that there might have some material disposal on the mentioned area.

I think we, as a birder with environmental concern, should keep an eye on what has happened to that area.  If necessary, we should ask corresponding parties of HKSAR government to see whether there is any illegal disposal occurred.  It's an unacceptable act for the land owners to attempt to change the land use by this kind of uncivilized and selfish destruction.

Welcome to share with us which exact area you've mentioned and I'll take a look too next time I go to Pui O.  I think we can do something to protect this nice piece of countryside.

Pui O 15/11/2009
First time visit to this wonderful site!! Highlight of the day was a Rustic Bunting which gave a very brief view near the agricultural fields next to the village. Only got a single record photo (Very very bad) which shows the Crest, and the chestnut flank.
