We visited Jianfengling National Forest Park, Hainan From Nov 19 to 26, 2009 (First three days with Gavin Cooper, Andrew Young, Roger Muscroft, Thelma and Tim Woodward ). Hope the following details are of use.
A) Transportation
Sanya airport to (and from) Tianchi Bishu Shan Zhuang (Resort) next to Ming Feng Gu, Jianfengling 120+Km takes 2 hrs 30mins 三亞機場 至 尖峰嶺 鳴鳳谷天池避暑山莊
We hired a Refine 11 seater-Van RMB600 x 2 ( Nov 19 and 22, 2009)

We paid RMB 100/night a standard room for staying more than 3 nights at Tianchi Bishu Shan Zhuang (Resort). (RMB 120/night for less than 3 nights.)

D) Weather
Staying in Jianfengling would be similar to Tai Mo Shan in Hong Kong, cool/cold in morning & night. We brought our down vests and wind jackets.

The resort provides Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. We carried our food for meals that we didn’t return to the resort for.

G) Places and distances in the park
1) Mingfenggu 鳴鳳谷
Birding on a 1.9km circular boardwalk in Mingfenggu would be similar to walking on the red/blue walk in Tai Po Kau in HK. The dinning area/ restaurant is near the entrance where we had brunches or lunches.
2) the Arboretum 植物園 or lower section of the main road between the pass and the Arboretum ~ 4Km
There are places beside the lake to have lunch if you are only birding near the Arboretum.
3) Jianfeng Town 尖峰鎮 to Mingfenggu 鳴鳳谷 20Km
4) Mingfenggu 鳴鳳谷 to Arboretum 植物園 3Km
5) Mingfenggu 鳴鳳谷 to the pass of the main road ~ 7Km
