I am a Japanese Birdwatcher/Ornithologist living in Tsukuba, Japan.
A Black-naped Monarch, Hypothymis azurea was observed last year on Yonaguni-jima east neighbouring island of Taiwan.
The bird looks like female, but I don't know the difference between female and young male of BNM.
Please teach me the identification point for young male BNM.

There are also possibility for the subspecies of the bird,  oberholseri, a endemic in Taiwan , and styani, a continental migrant wintering in Hong Kong.
Can you also teach me the subspecies difference in the field?

Best wishes, and good birding!
