I think this probably a first-winter male.  First-winter due to the retained pale- tipped juvenile greater coverts (with six retained juv greater coverts which contrast with the replaced adult inner greater coverts which are warmer tipped) plus it appears to retained the smallest tertial (which is unusual fir this species).  It can be sexed as a male due to the hints of the chestnut patch on the upper mantle which females don't show.
