BirdLife International - Save Spoony's Wetlands
$100,000 will help save Spoony's Chinese wetlands.
This project will contribute to the conservation of Spoon-billed Sandpiper, a unique and highly threatened migratory shorebird. It aims to strengthen the protection of the two most important sites known for the species in mainland China, by raising awareness among local government and communities about the importance of the species and of the inter-tidal wetlands that are vital for its survival. Student conservation groups will be established and become the ambassadors for the Spoon-billed Sandpiper, informing local people and the government about the importance of conservation and protecting wildlife.
