The shoveler performs at Tin Shui Wai
A pair of northern shoveler performed harmonized swimming sport in the drainage channel outside Tin Heng Estate Tin Shui Wai on January 14th. With an iridescent dark green head white breast chestnut belly and flanks, the male duck swung its bill to the far right end. Decorated with mainly brown-speckled plumage, the female duck swung its bill to the far left end. The movement of their large spatulate wide-flat bills forms a complete pendulum motion. I could even perceive their coordinated web-footed movement under the water surface.
