A pair of black-collared starlings hopped up and down at high-ground in Long Valley in the afternoon of January 17th.  Suddenly they spotted predators.  Without a moment of hesitation they cried out quik-quik quik-quik towards downwind trying to warn their fellow mates.  The right starling was so frightened that she shuddered with feathers all puffed up.
