Ecuador is a paradise of bird watching. There are nearly 1700 species of bird in an area of 272 km2 similar to the size of New Zealand. For the hummingbirds, there are about 340 species worldwide and more than 130 occurring in Ecuador.

The following bird lodges that I have stayed or visited provide birding information and bird tours.

- Cabañas San Isidro

- San Jorge Eco Lodge

- Pachijal Reserva Ecologica Bird Lodge

- Bellavista Clouds Forest Reserve & Lodge

- Pululahua Hostal
