我認為應該兩條腿走,一方面我們當然希望推擴觀鳥給普羅大眾,讓他們認識周邊環境,為保育作一分力。
另一方面,當一班新會員入會,往往對鳥會運作,宗旨未必太認識,加上未必可以常常參與鳥會活動,導致沒法提升水平。
其實人多好辦事,但必需加強會員品質/能力,這些都是需要培訓。
我認為新加入鳥會的會員都最好限定要參加一些講座,關於一些觀鳥會宗旨,守則等等,更希望他們可以優惠價參加觀鳥初班,提升水平,
一方面能加強對鳥會歸屬感,另一方面也可以幫助鳥會日後發展,如帶隊,做調查等等。
還有,一些上完觀鳥初班的人,有些會活躍於觀鳥,但如何再提升他們的能力呢?實戰是個最好方法,如加入一些委員會幫望做調查,但"入會"的方法似乎不太明確。

至於近日一些就鳥攝的討論和分歧,似乎是鳥會沒有一套準則/建議/方向去讓人遵守,令這些討論沒完沒了,傷和氣,既然觀鳥有一套守則,鳥攝為何不能有?

oops, didn't notice that and it was not published by recognized authority - HKBWS officer accounts.....

There is very clear wordings "不要企圖影響雀鳥的行為，如驚嚇、驅趕或使用誘餌". So no need to further discuss on whether it is right or wrong for using bait in bird photography. If members found violate this, simply giving warning and reconsider whether they are still eligible to be member in the next year. QA and QC is important to maintain HKBWS standard when member numbers grow larger.
