WWFis collaborating with the Department of Geography and Resource Management ofthe Chinese University of Hong Kong on a research project to investigate the biosphere-atmosphereexchange of greenhouse gases in mangroves, which involves construction of anenvironmental monitoring tower to detect the mangroves’ ability to absorb and emitgreenhouse gases. The construction has been approved by correspondinggovernment departments to commence and is expected to complete by the end ofOctober.
