Have been waiting expectantly for one of these to turn up.
Looks like a first winter bird as the throat colour isn't at its brightest..... noticeably though, as with last year at the pond, the red throat lacks the black band around the red area, as compared to all the other birds I have seen posted elsewhere in previous years.

Thanks Michael... but regarding the fringe around the red area... I had several different birds visit the pond last season, & none had the black fringe.... am sure they were not all juvenile

Not sure if is the light, or my camera settings, but this bird seems to have slightly darker/richer plumage than that of yesterday... possibly a 3rd male to visit the pond in quick succession.... also seems to a have alight black fringe on the throat, lacking on the other 2..

Looks like a 4th Siberian Rubythroat male to visit the pond... is a 1st winter male with the throat having even less colour than the 1st image posted here...
