Eyebrowed thrush (record shot only)

Eyebrowed thrush (record shot only)

I was sitting in my study on a conference call when I saw this bird. I photographed it with a Canon SX50 HS through the window. This is just perched on a bush in the garden outside our house. A female Daurian redstart was just below it.

Good record Andrew.

I've noticed on Po Toi that Eyebrowed Thrush are much more likely to sit on exposed branches than other thrushes e.g. Japanese which always keep themselves well covered.
I'm not sure what the reason is - I guess it has something to do with their lifestyle but I'd be interested to know.

Thanks Geoff. Clement & Hathway simply says "when disturbed usually flies into tops of tree or bushes." I don't think this bird was particularly disturbed - there was nobody in the garden at the time. I have seen Hwamei, Blackbird, Pale thrush and Grey-backed in the garden but they are always on the ground and invariably foraging in the leaf litter under the hedge.
