There are talks among Mainland China birdwatchers to start a bird watching game in September.  I wonder whether HK bird watchchers would like to participate as well.  The idea is very simple: to have the highest number of species seen in a season.  The game will be played in Autumn (Sept to Nov), Winter (Dec to Feb), and Spring (March to May).  To play, the requirement is that all birds must be seen in China, anywhere in China.  All wild birds can be counted.

We can play the game with the restriction that all birds must be seen in HK.  A small gift will be presented by HKBWS at the end of the game (June 2009).  Anybody interest?

The game is for individual. There is no need to prove sighting or hearing. We trust you. Everything is made causal, and so nobody need to take up the burden of organizing this. On the other hand, there is little reward. There is no point to create records simply for the sake of winning. I would suggest participants to keep a good record of their own, and to post this up on the web to everybody to look at. For HK records, you are advised to send the record to the HKBWS record committee. For trip records in mainland China, I suggest you send them to the China Bird Report editor.  We can do that for you if you wish.

The rule of the game in mainland China has been changed. But I think I would keep the rules as I announced last time. So let's start in Sept 1st this year.

The Hong Kong year list record holder is Graham Talbot, he saw 350 species in 2006.
The story of his birding year will be seen in the coming Bulletin 207.
Look forward to seeing someone break the year record.

每季觀鳥比賽，之前定下的規則，不知有沒有人想參加？

1. 比賽分秋、冬、春三季進行，由九月一日開始，每季三個月。
2. 紀錄在中國境內看到的野生鳥種，以種類數決勝負，種類要經過中國鳥類編輯會的確認。
3. 歡迎任何人仕參加，要預先報名，每月公報比賽成績。

第2條“中國”可以改為香港，按大家的意願。
